Students walk into their buildings, hallways, and classrooms completely unaccounted for. As recent-ish public schoolers, we know the drill: put a backpack on, look the part, blend into the crowd. Teachers took attendance manually. They gave us blocks of wood and tissue boxes for hall passes. Finding one student meant logging into an attendance portal, calling into a classroom, and hoping. We also know what it's like to hear about a school shooting and start texting friends, wondering if you'll get a reply.
MOOV is our hope to make schools safer and seamless. It's an entirely new category in education technology: a student movement OS.
A principal at one of the biggest high schools in America was asked what would happen if MOOV were removed. He said his school could not function. Security Directors have said verbatim that MOOV "is a need, not a want." We grew 252% last year, and we're breaking into some of the country's biggest districts.
We did all of that without a sales team. That is the entire reason this job exists.
Our mission is a relentless pursuit to reshape the schools that shaped us: saving time and saving lives.
You carry a number, and you get there by picking up the phone.
Right now, growth happens because a principal in one county tells a principal in the next one, and because we shake hands at conferences. That works. It also means our number depends on which rooms we happened to stand in. We want someone who would rather make the room come to them.
You own a district from the first call to the signed PO.
Build your own pipeline, mostly by phone. Nobody hands you leads. You'll call principals, assistant principals, security directors, technology directors, and superintendents' offices, every day, in real call blocks. Schools start at 7am, which is exactly when a principal is at their desk and not yet in a hallway. Our day starts then too. Email and LinkedIn support the calls. They don't replace them.
Work the rooms we're already good at. Conferences have been our biggest growth channel. You'll pick which ones are worth it, book meetings before we land, work the booth, and make sure every conversation gets a call within 48 hours instead of a spot on a spreadsheet.
Turn happy customers into pipeline. Our strongest asset is a Security Director who will pick up the phone and tell another Security Director what MOOV did for their building. You'll ask for those references and introductions on purpose, every time, instead of hoping they happen.
Learn the K-12 calendar. Budget cycles, board approvals, purchase orders, bond money, and grants decide when a deal closes, not how excited a principal is. You'll know which board meeting a deal is waiting on, and you'll plan your quarter around it.
Spend money to win. You'll have a real budget for conferences, dinners for district leaders, travel to sit in a lobby and watch a morning bell, or a custom tool you build for a prospect. Ask for what you need and show us what it returned.
By week two: you can name all of our customers, why each one bought, and which of them will take a reference call. You've sat in on a demo, run part of one, and made your first live calls.
By month three: a district that had never heard of MOOV until you called it has a quote in hand and a board date on the calendar. Every open opportunity has an owner, a stage, a number, and a next date. You can tell us your connect rate, your meeting rate, and which opener is winning.
By month six: you've closed districts you sourced yourself. We know our cost to acquire a district and our sales cycle length, and both are moving in the right direction. Conference season is planned rather than improvised. You've written the playbook the next rep will run.
This is a fast-track role. We check in formally every 30 days, and the honest ceiling on this seat is leading revenue at MOOV. We promote execution, quickly, and we would rather build our leadership team out of people who earned it here.
You like the phone. Not tolerate it. You've made hundreds of cold calls, you can tell us your connect rate, and a "not interested" doesn't ruin your morning.
You have 1-3 years in a closing or full-cycle sales role, and you know your numbers cold: quota, attainment, average deal size, cycle length, and where deals drop off.
A real share of what you closed, you sourced yourself. We'll ask what percentage, and how.
You can walk us through a specific deal from first call to signature, including the part where it nearly died.
You've gone deep on something complicated enough to be credible with a buyer who knows the rules better than you. It doesn't have to be education. Safety, healthcare, government, compliance, hardware, anything where you had to actually learn it.
You are credible in a school building. You can hold a room of skeptical administrators for an hour without condescending to them, and you know the difference between what a principal cares about and what a business official cares about.
You care deeply. Not about "the funnel" in the abstract, but about whether a specific kid in a specific hallway is accounted for. This product is easy to sell honestly. Do not sell it any other way.
You use discovery to understand the problem, not to set a trap. If MOOV isn't right for a school, you say so.
You're high agency. A district's board meeting moves up two weeks and the quote isn't ready. You move. And then there is no next time, because you built the thing that catches it earlier.
You take accountability. When a deal is lost, you can say precisely why, and the reason is not "budget."
You write like a person, not a company, well enough to send to a superintendent without anyone editing it.
You use AI as leverage and own the output. If a prompt misses something, that's your miss, not the tool's. You can tell us about a time AI got something wrong and you caught it, because you were checking.
You're confident without needing to win. You'll push back on either of us with evidence, and take a "no" without wilting or sulking.
Helpful, not required: you've sold into K-12, government, or another long-cycle institutional buyer. You've sold hardware and software together. You've worked conference floors, not just a desk. You've been a first or early sales hire. You can build things: a quick ROI calculator or a custom page for a prospect is a real edge here.
This job is in our Brooklyn office at 15 MetroTech Center, five days a week, 7am to 7pm. Why 7am? That's when our schools start, and when the people you're calling are at their desks. Why 7pm? That's when schools on the West Coast end. You'll also be out at schools and conferences with us several times a month, travel covered.
We are flexible and accommodating, but we are not aiming to be good, or even great. We will be the greatest system a school has ever used. Lives are on the line. We believe we can help prevent the next school tragedy. This is what it takes.
Your on-target earnings split 50/50: half is guaranteed base, half is commission you earn at 100% of quota. Commission is paid on the full contract value, hardware and software, not software alone. It's uncapped, with accelerators above quota, and you get a guaranteed ramp payment for your first six months while you build pipeline.
We'll offer you a choice between three packages: more cash and less equity, more equity and less cash, or somewhere in the middle.
Base: $105,000 - $120,000
Commission: $105,000 - $120,000 at 100% of quota (12% of first-year contract value)
OTE: $210,000 - $240,000
Equity: 0.30% - 0.50%
Ability to early-exercise stock options for tax benefits
Health, dental, and vision coverage
Lunch every day, and dinner if you're here late
Daily commuter stipend; school and conference travel covered
Unlimited PTO
Access to whatever tools you need, plus a monthly book budget
Regular team offsites
Relocation stipend if you're moving to New York for this
About two weeks from first call to offer.
Apply with two short audio answers: what you obsess over, and the 60-second voicemail you'd leave a principal who has never heard of MOOV. This job happens on the phone, so that's where we start.
Intro call, 15 minutes with Kevin and Samera.
In person, with both of us. Walk us through one deal you sourced and closed, start to finish, with the real numbers. Then one you lost that was your fault.
A paid day in our office. We give you a real territory list and our materials. You build a 60-day plan to fill the pipeline, pick twenty districts and who you'd call at each, and write the opener you'd actually use. Then you run live mock calls with us playing a principal who has 90 seconds and a security director who doesn't want another vendor, and a short demo segment. Ask us as many questions as you want. This is the part we weigh most heavily, and it's the part where you find out whether you want to work here.
Two reference calls, then an offer, usually within 48 hours of your day with us.
